I am extremely passionate about encouraging more women to study Computer Science. I am currently working on building a regional Women in Computing group with Samford University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Miles College, University of Montevallo, University of Alabama, and Lawson State Community College. Prior to working at BSC, I created WiC groups at the University of Alabama and Kennesaw State University.
Object-Oriented Owls
At Kennesaw State University, we started the Object-Oriented Owls, a group interested in increasing the number of women studying or interested in Computer Science at Kennesaw State. This group of women received a Google igniteCS award to work with Girls, Inc. of Greater Atlanta.
League of Women Coders
The League of Women Coders is a group dedicated to increasing the number of women studying Computer Science at the University of Alabama. My hope is to combine the women in CS groups in the Southeast into one large group under this name.
